When I was in the ‘dream phase’ of starting my business over 10 years ago, I envisioned having a company that was well-known in North America. If being well-known in North America was a dream then the idea of having international exposure was an ever more distant dream. But believe me when I tell you that dreams do come true.
Day 1: Virtually International
Tamiko Cuellar, founder of Pursue Your Purpose was holding her 2nd Annual Positioned for Wealth Small Business Virtual Summit and selected me to be a part of her international panel of experts from London, Switzerland, USA and I represented Canada.
This was my first time on an international panel and I was so honored to be included. It’s always a good feeling when your work is recognized and appreciated by others. Being called to present at the summit was an indication that I haven’t been doing too bad over the years.
One of the key pieces of advice that I had to share about PR and branding was to keep going. It might not always feel like people are watching or listening or like they even care, but it’s your ongoing effort, despite the results (or lack thereof) that help you achieve your biggest and toughest goals.
Day 2: Locally International
After dusting off my old wind pipes I was ready to sing alongside reggae and soul singer Kaisha (Kaysha) Lee, at the Montreal International Reggae Festival…pause for reaction…lol. I know what you’re saying: “Sandra you sing?” At least, that’s what everyone else has been saying…but back to the story…
Singing on stage to an audience of hundreds is something I hadn’t done in a long time and I had so much fun that I can’t wait to do it again! This experience was actually very much needed because I think it’s important that we don’t make our work, our world. Some of us let our work consume us: our time, family time, play time, me time, hammer time…you get the point.
Every now and then we need to rediscover ourselves through our talents and not be afraid to express them.
