For almost 4 years, Pauleanna Reid has been working on her young adult fiction novel: Everything I Couldn’t Tell My Mother and I’m happy to announce that we are only weeks away from releasing it to the world.
Aaliyah (the books narrator and main character) follows the crowd, breaks her parents’ rules and is quickly thrown into a battlefield marked with peer pressure, self-loathing, sexual discovery and broken friendships. Her journey takes dramatic twists and turns while delivering a cautionary tale that is grounded in the reality of what it is to be a teenager in today’s instant-access generation.
What I love about this book is that it opens the door to discuss pressing issues like youth/teen self-esteem, bullying, sexual abuse and all the hard, pressing topics that most people are afraid to discuss today. It will also be a real eye opener to parents of teens who think they know everything about what’s going on in their teens lives.
