Hiplet: Join The Movement

Video Credit: W Magazine

Conceived by Homer Hans Bryant, the artistic director and founder of the Chicago Multi-Cultural Dance Center, hiplet (pronounced “hip-lay”) showcases dancers en pointe as they contort, strut and dip around the floor, interplaying hip-hop movements with classical styles.

There’s an old African proverb that goes: plan with a purpose, prepare with prayer, proceed with positivity and pursue with persistence! That is what Hiplet is all about. ~Homer Hans Bryant

Camryn Taylor, Lourdes Taylor, Nia Parker and Nia Lyons are classically trained ballerinas and the most senior dancers at the Chicago Multi-Cultural Dance Center. The Hiplets have appeared in a CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Show, TEDxSanFrancisco, the New York Times and CNN. Their YouTube videos have gathered over hundreds of thousands of views.
