The Art Of Satisfaction

How many of us struggle to be satisfied? When I get to a place where I feel like I’m just not happy where I’m at, I do my best to turn that feeling on it’s head and focus on all the reasons why I should be happy and I look at everything that I have been given, including talents, skills, characteristics, abilities and ‘disabilities’, strength and weaknesses; I can’t help but have a full and grateful heart.

Unfortunately, those unhappy feelings don’t stay gone, they come back and I just keep fighting them every time but this morning, I tuned into Joyce Meyer’s broadcast on The Power Of Contentment and it made me realize that I can have a heart of gratitude for my present as well as be hopeful and have faith for the blessings I see in my future.

Joyce says: “Contentment doesn’t mean that you don’t ever want anything or that you don’t want to see any change in your life, but it means that you can be satisfied where you’re at on the way to where you’re going, through trusting God and believing that he is working in your life.”
Here is a Psalm we can reference whenever we need help getting back on the path of contentment:
My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness, And my mouth shall praise You with joyful lips. When I remember You on my bed, I meditate on You in the night watches. Because You have been my help, Therefore in the shadow of Your wings I will rejoice. My soul follows close behind You; Your right hand upholds me.
~Psalm 63: 5-8
